South Wales Scorpions head coach Dave Clark has vented his frustration about the way his side were treated at Rochdale on Sunday.

Clark raised the issue on Twitter, and said his side had been disrespected throughout their trip to Spotland claiming the RFL’s Respect policy had been thrown out of the window.

The Scorpions lost 42-12, but the game was marred with a mass brawl that saw four players red carded.

Gary Middlehurst (Rochdale) and Nathan Mossop (South Wales) were dismissed from the field, while Phil Braddish (Rochdale) was also cited by the match officials for his part in the brawl. Jason Howells (South Wales) also saw red after getting involved whilst being a substitute.

Clark called upon the RFL to investigate the way the Scorpions were treated during the match.

He tweeted: “In all my playing and coaching career I’ve never witnessed what I witnessed today!! Negative comments towards the scorpions and referee during the game today, the RFL respect policy not in practice.

“When we returned to the dressing room via the tunnel for me was a dark day in rugby league hostile comments targeting my staff and players. (sic)

“To witness both teams and the referee being escorted off the pitch at half time is something I’ve never witnessed and should be investigated by the RFL.”

A further red card was issued to Scorpions’ Dominic Crosbly for punching later in the match.
