Daryl Powell: We are in a good place

Powell’s Castleford side eventually ran out comfortable winners against the visiting Huddersfield Giants on Thursday evening.

The Tigers are now only a single point behind second place Wigan Warriors and will be hoping that fourth placed Warrington defeat them this weekend.

On the Giants Powell said:

“Huddersfield are a good side. What Simon and the staff have done there has been excellent. They have been the form team of the second half of the season.”

He also believes that his Tigers side is beginning to hit top form:

“Some of our play was really good. We really stepped up tonight, It was a good team performance.

We are in a good place. We have improving to do and players to come back but I’m really happy.”

The man of the match was young halfback Jake Trueman and Powell was very pleased with his performance:

“Truey has been great all year. Some of the things he does – he’s very difficult to coach. He is a natural half.”

The game was in the balance for the best part of an hour but the Tigers proved too consistent for the visitors – stamping their intentions down for another Grand Final appearance.
