Daryl Powell left furious after Castleford defeat to St Helens

Castleford coach Daryl Powell’s post-match interview with Sky Sports was short but not so sweet.

The Tigers conceded eight tries as Saints won 40-18 at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle on Thursday night, with Saints extending their lead at the top of the Super League table.

Powell, who is normally very calm and polite in his interviews with the media, gave a short but not so sweet interview with Sky Sports’ Bill Arthur after the game.

He criticised the performance of referee Chris Kendall.

Speaking after the game, Powell said: “We can’t defend, Saints were great and I don’t know what is happening with referees at the moment.”

The Tigers boss then walked away from his interview and down the tunnel.

Meanwhile, St Helens coach Justin Holbrook said every single one of his players performed well in their win at Castleford.
