Daryl Powell: Castleford will get the underdogs tag

Castleford coach Daryl Powell said his side need to thrive off being underdogs for the rest of the play-offs.

The Tigers beat Warrington 14-12 in the elimination play-off final at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Thursday night.

Castleford will face the loser of Wigan-Salford next week and Powell revealed his side need to use the underdogs tag to their advantage.

He commented: “We are going to get the underdogs tag and I think we need to thrive off it and what it stands for.

“We’ve spent all year trying to believe. We haven’t been great this year and we’ve had a lot of players injured and we’ve not been able to nail our combinations but now we have got belief we can defend.

“If you can defend then you’ve got a chance against anybody. We are going to need to keep defending to give ourselves a chance.

“We have now got a shot at another week in the play-offs. There was a chance of us not even making the play-offs a couple of weeks ago but we managed to get in the five and we are enjoying being in it.”
