St Helens half-back Danny Richardson has been named in the Leigh squad for their Championship clash with Featherstone on Sunday.

Richardson, 22, was a virtual ever present for Saints in Super League last season, keeping Grand Final winner Matty Smith on the sidelines.

He is one of five Saints players named in Leigh’s 19-man squad, alongside fellow dual-registered players Matty Costello, Aaron Smith and Jack Ashworth, and loanee Luke Douglas.

Leigh won their opening home game of the season against Toulouse, but were beaten by Halifax last weekend.

With Richardson in the squad, there is no place for loanees Oliver Russell and Josh Woods, with Leigh for the season from Huddersfield and Wigan respectively.

Featherstone are no strangers to the dual-registration set-up, and they have youngster Harry Newman in their squad from Leeds.

He has also been named in the Rhinos squad for their game at Salford on the same day.

Team-mates Cameron Smith and Luke Briscoe have also been made available for Featherstone, who include their Papua New Guinea trio Ase Boas, Thompson Teteh and Watson Boas for the game at Leigh Sports Village.

Leigh 19-man squad: McNally, Pownall, I Thornley, Marsh, Ridyard, Spencer, Higham, Brooks, T Adamson, A Thornley, L Adamson, Cator, Gregson, Cox, Douglas, Costello, Smith, Ashworth, Richardson.

Featherstone 19-man squad: A Boas, Day, Turner, King, Smith, Carey, Smith, Maskill, Newman, Ormondroyd, Render, Lockwood, Davies, Walters, Briscoe, Cooper, Wheeldon, Teteh, W Boas.

Leigh are 8/13 favourites for a second successive home win, with Featherstone an 11/8 bet.
