Leeds RhinosDanny McGuire has been granted a testimonial by the RFL.

McGuire joined the Rhinos when he was 13 years-old. He made his first team debut in 2001 and has gone onto score a joint Super League record of 199 tries for Leeds.

He was ruled out of next week’s Challenge Cup final against Warrington, but is pleased to be awarded the year long testimonial which will start on September, 1 this year.

McGuire said: “It is a huge privilege for me to be granted a testimonial by the RFL and I would like to thank them for that. I am really looking forward to the testimonial year and have lots of things planned already.

“Testimonials are still invaluable to players in our sport. We won’t be able to retire when we finish playing like footballers and testimonials reward loyalty and commitment in the game.

“I see it also as a chance for me personally to meet fans and thank them for the support they have given me during my time so far at Leeds.”

McGuire made his Leeds debut in a 56-6 win over Salford in Super League VI.
