Danny Maskill has signed a new one-year deal with Featherstone, while Jason Walton has departed the club.

The utility forward joined the Rovers ahead of the 2018 campaign and established himself as a regular in their Championship Shield campaign.

Maskill joins John Davies, Scott Wheeldon, James Lockwood, Luke Cooper, Brett Delaney and Brad Day in Featherstone’s pack for 2019.

On his new deal, Maskill said: “I only played the last eight games of last season and I feel like I’ve got a bit more to prove to myself and prove to the fans this year.

“It’s back to pre-season now and hopefully I can rip and cement my spot in the side.

“I feel like I probably wasn’t at my best [in the Championship Shield], because I didn’t have a lot of game-time under my belt throughout the year, but I feel like I just need to play a bit more.

“I was getting 80 minutes under my belt week, week out towards the end of the year and hopefully I can take that into the upcoming season.”

Meanwhile, Jason Walton has left the club after agreeing mutual terms for an early release.

He suffered an injury in August and date for his return is yet to be set.

In a short statement released by the Rovers, it read: “The club will continue to support Walton through his rehabilitation and thank him for his efforts.”
