Danny Addy appointed Leigh captain

Leigh have named Danny Addy as their new captain for the 2020 campaign.

Scotland international Addy takes the captaincy role from club legend Micky Higham, who retired at the end of last season.

Liam Hood and Ben Reynolds will be the Centurions’ joint vice-captains this year.

Leigh coach John Duffy said: “Danny Addy has stood out since day one.

“I’ve worked with him before at Scotland, so I’ve always known he’s had those leadership qualities in him.

“He’s not always been allowed to show those qualities with Scotland, but I’ve always seen Danny as a true leader on and off the pitch. He is someone who the boys look up to.

“He deserves the captaincy this year and I want him to be the best captain this club has ever had. I am sure he will do a really good job for us this season. Danny got a bit emotional when I asked him to do the job.”
