Cunningham wary of Wardle and Brough

St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham is treating Huddersfield with the utmost respect, ahead of the Giants’ trip to Langtree Park on Thursday evening.

Cunningham thinks that Scotland international back rower Joe Wardle is a particular threat to his team’s chances of victory.

“They’ve got a real good side, they’ve got a very big pack,” he said.

“They’ve got lots of strike all over the field. Joe Wardle‘s one of my favourite players.

“For me, moving into the back row is the best thing he’s ever done, he’s a great player.

“He adds so much venom to that side, he’s a really good back rower.”

In addition to Wardle, Huddersfield also have one of Super League‘s best half-backs leading them around the field, according to the Saints coach.

Danny Brough is one of the best kickers and organisers in the competition,” he added.

“He probably doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.

“They’re a well-drilled and well-organised side. Paul Anderson does a good job with them.

“Every time we play against them it’s a tussle.”
