Cunningham: St Helens’ systems are second to none

St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham believes that the structures and systems in place at his club have created the first team’s current fine run of form.

Saints have won all six of their Super League games so far this season, and Cunningham feels that the strong ethos and culture at the club are responsible for such success.

“The systems at this club are second-to-none,” he said.

“Everybody enjoys coming to training, and working hard.

“We have a laugh at the right times, and we work hard at the right times too.

“I think that shows on the field, in the way they all work hard for each other.

“Every time we get broken in defence, we scramble and we chase and do our best to stop every try.

“You can see the players are enjoying their rugby at the minute.”

Cunningham is full of praise for his players, who he thinks have bonded superbly well this season and are showing great team spirit.

“It’s outstanding, really it is,” he said.

“The players are in a bit of a purple patch and they’re really enjoying their moment in the sun at the minute.

“They’re working really hard off the field. They’re a great group.

“They’re really connected, they’re good together and they enjoy each other’s company, and you can tell that on the field.

“They come to training and it’s a good place to be. We always have a smile on our face, and everybody works hard.”
