St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham declined to blame the officials for his side’s eight-point loss to Warrington.

Warrington had a Tom Lineham try controversially awarded by the referee and then Saints had a Dominique Peyroux score ruled out by the video referee in the semi-final.

“Obviously I’m disappointed, I’m deeply disappointed,” Cunningham told Sky.

“There was some real game-changing calls at big points in the game that went against us.

“During the year all that evens out.”

“It was a typical semi-final, it was nip and tuck all the way.”

Cunningham paid credit to the effort of both teams.

“We had some calls that went against us, thats unfortunate, but I’ve got to give my boys credit,” he said.

“For the last three months they’ve been outstanding.

“I don’t really want to detract from Warrington’s performance. But I thought my boys deserved a bit better.”
