Cunningham extends with London

Hooker James Cunningham has signed a two-year contract extension tieing him to London until the end of 2018.

The former Hull FC hooker spent much of the 2014 Super League season on loan with the Broncos – making ten appearances – before signing a deal that saw him join the club on a more permanent basis in 2015.

The 22-year old has been a stalwart for the club in the 2016 Championship season, making another ten appearances and scoring four tries thus far.

Cunningham says growing the game in the south was a huge draw card in extending his time.

“I’m obviously delighted to be committed to the club on a longer term basis,” he said.

“It has been a great season for us so far, and we’ve worked hard to get where we are. It’s a great group of boys, and we all want to work hard and do well for each other.

“We’re onto something special here, and I’m really happy that I’ll be able to see it through.”

Broncos head coach Andrew Henderson echoed his sentiments.

“The position we’re in now hasn’t come about by fluke – we’ve been selective with our playing group, and we’re building a team that is proud to play for the Broncos club, and proud to lead the way for rugby league in the south,” he said.

“Cunno has been excellent for us this season, and I’m really excited to continue working with him over the next two years.

“He has been a big part of us moving forward and developing our culture. It’s fantastic that he believes in what we represent, and wants to extend his time here. I think it speaks volumes of where we are as a club.”
