Cumbrian clubs are set to dominate Championship 1 during the 2012 season according to Apollo Bet.

All three clubs from rugby league’s so called ‘forgotten county’ are the top favourites to win the title outright with former Super League side Workington Town leading the pack.

Gary Charlton and Martin Oglanby’s side are 5/2 to finish top of the table and achieve automatic promotion into the Championship.

Whitehaven are 10/3 to win the league outright. Barrow Raiders, who were relegated after being found guilty of severe operational rule breaches, are 5/1.

With four clubs being promoted due to the revamp of the leagues in time for 2013, Oldham trail the Cumbrian sides at 61 to win the league outright. Rivals Rochdale are 7/1 to top the league, and could surprise a few teams as they aim for promotion into the Championship.

North Wales Crusaders and South Wales Scorpions will contest the first all Welsh derby for the first time in 102 years.

The last Welsh derby was contested between two now defunct clubs, Merthyr Tydfil and Ebbw Vale in 1910. Merthyr Tydfil won 2-0 at College Field in front of over 4,000 spectators.

South Wales Scorpions are favourites to win the league over their North Wales counterparts, with the Scorpions 10/1 to win while the Crusaders are 11/1.
