Cumbria will be joined by seven Engage Super League sides in the inaugural final of the Rugby League 9s competition.

The Cumbrians booked their place in next Tuesday Rugby League 9s final at Headingley Carnegie Stadium after finishing third in the West League merit table. They will be joined on finals night by Wigan Warriors, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Castleford Tigers, Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves, Salford City Reds and Hull FC.

Wigan were the only unbeaten side in the merit league with 12 successive victories and will go into the final as favourites. In the East League Wakefield came out on top with ten wins from their 12 matches piping local rivals Castleford to the top spot with a better points difference after the Tigers also recorded ten victories from 12 matches.

Elsewhere, Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC secured the final two spots in the East League and Warrington and Salford make up the final two places from the West League.

The finals night will also see Rugby League’s Fastest Man crowned. Details of the fastest man competition will be announced later this week with full details of the competing players.
