Crusaders half-back Michael Witt has been banned for one game after being found guilty of punching by the Rugby Football League Disciplinary committee. This followed an incident with Castleford Tigers player and former Warrington fullback Richard Mathers in the 16th minute of their Engage Super League showdown on Sunday.

An RFL press release read: “Witt, who pleaded guilty to the Grade B offence, was also fined £300 after the RFL Disciplinary Committee ruled he had behaved in a manner contrary to the spirit of the game.”

He is set to miss Crusaders weekend game at the Willows against Salford on Saturday.
