Hunslet have agreed a deal with Crusaders to take Welsh international utility back Elliot Kear on a month’s loan.

Kear made five Super League appearances in 2010 and has also represented his country on six occasions scoring six tries, including a hat-trick against Scotland in the European Cup.

Hawks Director Of Rugby Darren Williams said: “I am delighted to welcome Elliot to South Leeds and would like to thank Iestyn Harris, Barry Eaton and Rod Findlay for their co-operation in arranging this loan deal, obviously he has aspirations to play at the top level and at 22 years of age playing regularly in the tough environment of the Championship will aid his development.”

“To be able to entice a highly rated prospect to join us speaks volumes for the club and it also sends out the message that we wont stand for disappointing displays such as the recent defeat at Oldham, Elliot will train with the squad for the first time this evening and will make his debut in the Northern Rail Cup at South Leeds on Sunday against Batley Bulldogs. “

Kear made 13 appearances for South Wales Scorpions in Championship 1 last season, and made his Super League debut for Crusaders against Leeds in August 2009.

He said: “I would like to thank Hunslet for this opportunity and hope my form helps the Hawks to some important victories and brings the best out of me so I can be a Super League regular with the Crusaders.”
