Crowd trouble sours Wakefield victory

Wakefield are waiting to find out if they will be punished following crowd trouble during last night’s win over Widnes.

Stewards had to separate the two sets of fans in the second half and Sky Sports cameras showed a supporter bleeding as the players looked on in concern.

A spokesman for the Rugby Football League said the governing body will first study reports from the match commissioner and Wakefield’s ground safety officer before deciding what action to take.

Wildcats coach Richard Agar said, “It’s not often you see it. I can’t comment on the incident because I was watching the game but I hope some action is taken against the perpetrators.

“It’s ugly and it’s not something any genuine rugby league person wants to see.”
