Crookes adds to Bradford woe

Struggling Bradford have been dealt a blow with the news that young winger Jason Crookes has been ruled out for three months.

Crookes, 21, has taken his chance in the Bulls first team this season, scoring five tries, but was forced from the field in the 24-18 defeat against Hull last weekend.

Investigations have confirmed that Crookes, who has had spells on loan with Widnes and Sheffield in his short career, will have to undergo surgery on his shoulder.

Bulls Football Manager Stuart Duffy said: “We are desperately sorry for Jason who has been tremendous for us this season.  It is a further blow to our squad but one which we will just have to cope with.”

As well as a spate of injuries, Bradford’s woe this season has been compounded with the recent news that they need to raise £1m to help preserve the future of club; including half of that sum by this weekend.

More than £250,000 has been pledged to help save the club so far.
