Cronulla seal Barrett signature

Cronulla Sharks have confirmed the capture of Wigan Warriors star Trent Barrett on a two-year deal from the end of the current campaign.nnBarrett, who joined the Warriors from St George-Illawarra Dragons at the start of the 2007 Super League season, has struggled for form this year and agreed an early release from his contract at the JJB Stadium.nnWigan chairman Ian Lenaghan said: “We have reached a satisfactory agreement to release Trent from the final year of his contract. We wish him well for the future and know that he will continue to give his 100% commitment to the Warriors for the rest of the Season.nn“The Club, Trent and the Wigan fans will all want him to go out on a high.” nnThe former Australian test representative has reportedly signed a contract worth $600,000 and it is understood that the deal includes a third party sponsorship agreement with Channel Nine, an Australian television station.nnCronulla coach Ricky Stuart was understandably delighted at landing the experienced Barrett, who had been linked with a move to a host of NRL clubs.nn”I’m extremely excited about having Trent join the club” said Stuart.nn”I’ve got no doubt he will be very good for the Sharks both on and off the field.”nnThe Sharks had been on the lookout for a new playmaker since Brett Kimmorley announced that he would be joining Canterbury Bulldogs at the end of the this season.
