Cronk backs Green to perform for Storm

Cooper Cronk believes that former Hull KR and Wigan stand-off Blake Green could turn out to be a great acquistion for Melbourne Storm this season.

Green moved home to Australia after an impressive stint in Super League, and Cronk thinks that the 28-year-old has the ability to do well in the NRL.

“(He’s) a good solid performer,” Cronk told Australian media.

“He can play the technical side of ball playing quite direct and square of the line.

“He has a good passing game and he is a rugged defender with a good body shape.”

Green faces competition for his place from 22-year-old Ben Hampton, as well as new signing Shaun Nona.

But Cronk believes that players having to work hard to earn starting spots can only be good for the team.

“There’s a few guys there pressing for that spot and that’s one area that we need guys to grab a hold of and make that a consistent position,” he said.

“We don’t need miracle players, just consistent Melbourne Storm performers.”
