Barrow Raiders coach Paul Crarey is feeling positive about his team as the start of the new season draws ever nearer.

The Raiders continued their pre-season friendly programme with a 10-10 draw in the mud with Workington Town at the weekend.

“We are happy with where we are, we are a million miles on in terms of recruitment and structures, and you could see that we matched them (Workington) stride for stride,” said Crarey, according to the North West Evening Mail.

“I thought we looked very good, we are hungry to defend, we are going to look after our players in this run up to the iPro Sport Cup, we need to do that.

“We will be mixing and matching in all our friendlies and then everybody will be fighting for shirts when the start of the season comes.

“We had good numbers in good places and it all bodes well for the next game which is Oldham, which will probably be more physical.

“We have got a great camp at the moment, it is a great place to be and a real positive environment to coach in, we’re happy.”
