Hull KR coach Craig Sandercock has praised his youngsters for coming away with a win from Widnes on Sunday.

Sandercock named five players who are 19-years old, including George Griffin who made his debut from the bench.

And after Rovers’ 32-26 win at the Stobart Stadium, Sandercock says he will continue to put faith into the club’s next generation.

Sandercock said: “I’m going to persevere with the kids and keep faith with them. I was a little bit worried about putting so many kids in at once, but they stepped up to the mark. They provided what I asked of them which was enthusiasm, passion and attitude.

“Widnes are playing really well at the moment and full credit to Denis, he’s got them firing. It was a relief to get back to winning ways though. We have lost a few close ones this year and it’s good to get one back.”

Rovers host Leeds on Sunday afternoon, which could see the east Hull see leapfrog Huddersfield into seventh place in the Super League.
