Coventry sign Welsh international Evans

Coventry Bears have signed Welsh international prop Morgan Evans for the rest of the season.

Evans is pleased to have the chance to play regular rugby again, after an enforced break due to studying.

“I’m very eager to get my 2015 season started, my university studies disrupted the first few months but now I’m in a position where I can fully concentrate on my rugby,” he said.

“I’ve played with a number of the squad members previously which should make things easier when settling into a new team environment. I come into this squad with the motivation to improve my game, and better myself physically.

“Overall I’m just very excited to get back out on that field.”

Bears coach Tom Tsang is pleased to have added a player with international experience to his squad.

“This signing is a major boost to our squad and strengthens us at a key time,” he said.

“Morgan is a Welsh International front-rower having picked up a few caps in last seasons European championships, he has also played for Wales students and studied at Bath University.

“He is big and physical and is in the mold of players that I like as he has the ability to play good minutes. He has played at this level for the last few seasons for South Wales Scorpions but is moving to Coventry to be involved with the Bears.

“I am hoping he can pass on some of his experience at this level and as an International player to others in our squad and he should play a major role for us for the rest of the season.”
