Coventry have re-signed front-rower Jack Morrison from amateur side Ince Rose Bridge for 2019.

Morrison first joined the Bears midway through the 2015 campaign and established himself in League 1 the following season.

He left the club ahead of 2018 due to work commitments, but has now re-signed for Coventry.

Bears’ head coach Tom Tsang commented: “He has been playing locally at top amateur NCL club, Ince Rose Bridge, in Wigan.

“We have kept in touch and with the departure of the likes of James Geurtjens and Malikhi Lloyd-Jones, we were looking for an experienced prop, so I offered Jack an opportunity to re-join the club in 2019.

“On his day, Jack is a damaging and powerful ball carrier and strong defender and we have seen him single-handed take opposition packs apart.

“He has taken up the challenge to get himself back into League 1 shape, and I have never seen him more motivated and focused on having a great season. I am looking forward to seeing him get back to where he should be – one of the best props in League 1.”

Morrison added: “I am looking forward to getting back into it after a year away and get back with the lads and coaching staff.

“I am thankful for the opportunity handed to me by Tom and I am determined to repay that faith.

“It is going to be a big pre-season and year for me personally and for the team, and I am looking forward to all the challenges and fun times throughout the season, playing in front of the faithful Coventry supporters.”
