Coventry continue to strengthen

Coventry Bears have added a trio of new signings ahead of the 2018 League 1 season.

Experienced Chris Vitalini joins having made almost 100 appearances in the third tier for South Wales and Gloucestershire All Golds.

Utility back Jason Bass has re-signed, while Midlands Hurricanes Academy product Josh Jackson has been handed a deal at the age of 17.

Coach Tom Tsang said: “Chris is a very important signing for us and one we are very excited about. He has been training with us for a few weeks and has slotted straight into our systems and gelled with the other lads really well.

“Jason was a member of our first ever squad in 2015 and has shown great improvement and development since then.

“He now has over 40 appearances for the club and can play a number of positions, having excelled as a fullback, winger and more recently as a centre. He has great footwork and agility and deceptively powerful for his size, overall he is a tough and hard working player as well as being a likable character and will be a welcome re-signing for the group.

“Josh has shown fantastic attitude throughout his time with us and as a 17 year old, he has a tonne of potential that we want to assist in unlocking.

“Josh also attended our pre-season trials and again showed he has the mentality to compete at League 1 level – something we felt deserved rewarding.

“I am looking forward to working with Josh and can see him being a Bear for a long time, provided he keeps working hard and keeps learning.”
