Coventry bring in Hunslet’s Joe Sanderson on loan

Coventry have confirmed that Hunslet half-back Joe Sanderson has joined the club on a one-month loan.

Sanderson was formerly of the Leeds Rhinos Academy and established himself as one of their first-choice creative options.

He was a mainstay of Hunslet’s team last year but has struggled to earn a regular place in the side this season.

The youngster made his debut for the Bears in last weekend’s 54-10 defeat to Doncaster, kicking one goal.

On the move, Hunslet Head Coach Gary Thornton said: “Joe needs to play so he can get some confidence back.

“Because of the way our fixtures fall, he will only miss 2 games in July, so it seemed an ideal time to give him the opportunity to go to Coventry and get some valuable game time under his belt.

“Joe is a valuable member of our squad, and still developing as a halfback at this level.

“I’m sure he will accept this as a challenge, react positively, and come back ready to push for a first team place with us for the back end of the season.”
