Keighley Cougars have released Daley Williams from his employment with the club, after the player was handed a four-year ban for a doping violation.

An RFL statement confirmed the ban. It reads:

“A national anti-doping panel has imposed a four-year suspension on Keighley Cougars player Daley Williams after he was found guilty of breaching the RFL’s anti-doping regulations.

“Williams, 29, tested positive for drostanolone and a metabolite of stanozolol following a test by UK Anti-Doping on March 5, 2015. Both substances are anabolic steroids.

“The ban runs until midnight April 7, 2019.”

Keighley Cougars have responded by issuing their own statement, confirming the player’s release.

It reads:

“The club can confirm that Daley Williams has been handed a four year suspension for a doping violation.

“The club is firm in its stance against this sort of behaviour and Daley has been released with immediate effect.”
