Whitehaven have signed former Warrington Wolves Academy forward Jack Cottington on a one-year contract.
The promising prop also spent time in the St Helens and Salford Red Devils Academies and played a lot of rugby alongside Ellis Gillam, who was his captain while in the Wolves’ Under-19s side.
And Haven head coach Carl Forster thinks Cottington will add good competition for places next year as they bid for promotion to the Championship.
He said: “I’m made up to get him on board.
“He’s come through a professional system at Warrington.
“He’s only young but he’s a big lad with good skills who will add to the quality and depth of our squad.”
