Former Swinton Lions and Keighley Cougars winger or full-back Harry Aaronson has joined Cornwall RLFC for their inaugural season in League 1.

The 23-year-old spent time in the academies at Wigan and Huddersfield. He made his debut in the professional game with Swinton in 2015.

Aaronson left the Lions to join Keighley whilst studying at Leeds University before returning to Swinton. He then spent time with hometown club Oldham before leaving the game to focus on his career in recruitment.

On joining Cornwall RLFC, Aaronson said: “Without this opportunity I was probably lost to the game because of my work commitments which meant an inability to train. The club have been really supportive and I am very grateful for the opportunity.

“It is a part of history to launch something new and be part of a new club. We have some good up and coming players from the local region, mixed with those from rugby league already. It’s a great proposition and I can’t wait to get started.

“I understand the reasons behind a club in Cornwall and I am fully behind spreading the game. With the raw talent we have, that’s very exciting, but you do need players with experience in the league we’re playing in itself.

“We also need experience of how to manage games and what to do in certain situations and I’m hoping to bring that to the team.”

Harry Aaronson’s “invaluable” experience to help Cornwall

Cornwall general manager Gareth Reid said: “We are very pleased to have Harry join the club for the season ahead.

“He has a great pedigree and good experience in the sport and provides great coverage across the back three.

“He’s fast with good footwork and an eye for the try-line. His experience will prove invaluable for the team over the course of the season.”
