Australian halfback Cooper Cronk has won the Golden Boot award for 2016.

The Melbourne Storm star won the award after being shortlisted along with Cameron Smith, Darius Boyd and Jason Taumalolo.

The Golden Boot was first awarded in 1984 to Australian legend Wally Lewis.

The award recognises performances throughout the year at club and representative level, with particular emphasis being placed on internationals.

In 2016 Cronk was the joint winner of the Dally M award in the NRL, and helped the Storm to reach the NRL grand final.

He was part of the Queensland side that won the State of Origin series 2-1 and a key figure in the Kangaroos outfit that won the Four Nations.
