NRL legend Cooper Cronk says he can fully understand why the Gold Coast Titans are pursuing Keiran Foran and thinks it could be a mistake by Manly to let the playmaker go.

Titans boss Justin Holbrook has confirmed his interest in the 31-year-old. The Titans are going through a tough time and have issues in the halves. The addition of the experienced Foran would be a huge help.

There is talk that Manly could let him go due to the salary cap. The Titans have apparently put a two-year offer worth $800,000 on the table.

For the second time in the space of two days Manly coach Des Hasler was quizzed about the situation. Once again he played a straight bat to the questions. However there is no smoke without fire and a deal could be in the pipeline.

Cooper Cronk rates Foran highly

Cronk says he would be a great addition for the Titans. He also thinks Hasler would like to keep him.

“Well it seems like Manly don’t want [it] to be shown yet or they actually don’t know so it’d be interesting to see,” Cronk told Fox Sports. “I understand both sides, if I’m the Titans and he’s an experienced half I’m going after him.

“They absolutely need someone like Kieran Foran but if I’m Des and Manly… Kieran bleeds Manly he is the Northern Beaches, he’s won a competition, he’s been a very good player going back there, he’s found that form that’s made him one of the stars. I’m torn with this one. I don’t know.”

Also speaking on Super Saturday, Benji Marshall says Foran could have a tough decision to make.

“He’s had good success at Manly, but there’s a lot of good at the Gold Coast and he could be very successful there as well so it’s a big one to weigh up,” Marshall added.

Titans declare interest

By the sounds of things, Foran may have no option but to leave if he is not offered fresh terms. The Gold Coast will offer him a new home though. Holbrook has confirmed his interest in the 31-year-old.

“His name only got mentioned yesterday (and) I don’t know where it’ll finish,” Holbrook said earlier this week. “(He brings) a heap of experience. An experienced older head helps young players.

“They are like the coaches on the field for us coaches so I think players like that help every player on the field.”
