Cooke Sentenced for Assault

Correspondent

Hull FC player Paul Cooke today pleaded guilty to two charges of assault following an incident in Hull City Centre in December 2005.

Paul was sentenced to undertake 100 hours community service. We understand from remarks made in court that Paul's behaviour at the time of the incident was totally out of character and the incident was instigated by others. Nonetheless Paul has accepted that his behaviour was unacceptable and the standard expected of him.

Paul wishes to apologise for the embarrassment he has caused to himself, his family and his club. Hull FC will continue to do all we can to ensure that our players are continually aware of their responsibilities.

Following the courts decision today both the RFL and Hull FC will now deal with Paul Cooke using their own respective disciplinary procedures.
