Cook hopeful of early return

New London Broncos signing Matt Cook is hopeful of being fit to make his debut against Warrington on Sunday.

Cook, 25, is a close season signing from Hull KR, but picked up a knock in the pre-season defeat against Catalan, which saw him sit out of Saturday’s Super League opener against St Helens.

He told the club’s official website: “At the minute I’m trying to prep for the Warrington game. Obviously it all depends on how I go and how I start running with some more body weight on the Alter G.”

“Hopefully I’ll be back on the pitch doing some straight running and maybe some twisting and turning. Fingers crossed I’ll be available for selection for the Warrington game.”

Alter G is an anti-gravity treadmill which Broncos physio Katrina Sarsfield has been using to help Cook, and prop Karl Temata, regain fitness.

Temata has been using a brace to support his knee, but hopes to resume full training within the next month.
