Coleman: We’re playing for pride

London Skolars coach Jermaine Coleman says his team are playing for personal pride and self-respect when they take on Toulouse tonight.

The Skolars lost 54-4 at home to Barrow Raiders last weekend.

“It was probably our most disappointing performance of the season,” Coleman admitted.

“I was a little bit embarrassed by our second half performance.

“To give the boys some credit, I think they were possibly tired, getting three blokes in binned in the first half didn’t help.

“Ultimately we’ve got to defend and we did that in the first half and showed great character and went in only four points down, which was a fantastic effort.

“Unfortunately in the second half we just didn’t turn up

“This Friday against Toulouse is probably the best game for us. Personal pride comes into it after our performance last week.

“Everyone is fully aware that if you underperform against Toulouse you can end up with 70/80 points put past you.

“It’s an opportunity for us to earn a bit of self-respect back and finish off the season on a bit of a high at home and demonstrate the progression we’ve made as a club and a team.

“It’s a big opportunity for us and a fantastic game to play in.”
