Championship One side Hemel have signed Jymel Coleman from Dewsbury.

Coleman, 24, is the brother of Stags assistant coach Jermaine, and had a spell on loan with the club last season.

Stags Coach Troy Perkins said: “Jymel is a great signing for us. He has played in the Championship for a few years and he has proven himself at this level. He is versatile, he can play in the halves, hooker or loose forward although initially we will look to to play him in the halves. He plays with plenty of enthusiasm, is a good organiser, has a good kicking game and he likes to take the line on too.

“He played a couple of games for us last season on loan and played an important part when we defeated Grand Final winners Rochdale Hornets earlier in the season. He was the ultimate professional when he was with us last season especially driving from Leeds to Hemel Hempstead to train with us. The other players enjoyed playing alongside him and his experience and enthusiasm rubbed off on the other players.”

Coleman made 10 appearances for Dewsbury last season, scoring five tries and five goals.

He said: “I’m excited about joining the club. Hemel has ambitions and I want to be part of them. I feel I can offer some valuable experience to an already quality squad and I was impressed withwhat the achieved last season and I hope I can help them improve on that and bring further success to the club.”
