Widnes veteran Jon Clarke thinks that his namesake Daryl Clark is the best young talent in the English game.

Clarke, 35, has been impressed by the Castleford hooker throughout 2014, and says he fully deserved his place in the Super League Dream Team.

“He has been superb this year, and in my eyes he is the most exciting young player in Super League,” said Clarke.

“He is dynamic with the ball in hand and you don’t realise until you come up against him, but he’s a really tough lad.

“For me he should definitely be in the England squad, although maybe as more of an impact player off the bench.

“Michael McIllorum is the man to start games for England, his style of play is perfect for big games in the international arena.”

With Clark set to join Warrington next season, Clarke has also backed him to raise the bar even higher in 2015.

“Under Tony (Smith) he will improve tactically, and his kicking game will also be developed, he has a big future.”
