Chester pleased with Wakefield’s defence

Wakefield boss Chris Chester praised his team’s defensive display after they recorded a comfortable victory over Catalan Dragons on Sunday.

Mason Caton-Brown’s hat-trick helped Trinity to a comfortable 30-10 success over the French side and move them back into the top half of the table.

“The pleasing aspect was just conceding one try in each half – we just strangled them with field position in the second half and defensively we really turned up for each other today,” said Chester.

“On our first five sets we lost the ball and were our own worst enemies, but showed some real character and some real team spirit.

“We’ve not been far away these past few weeks. We got smashed against Castleford and then were pretty good against Wigan and should have won again last week, throwing the game away against Warrington.

“But it’s pleasing that we ground out a win and our first double of the season.”
