Chester knows he has to improve at Hull KR
Hull KR coach Chris Chester has acknowledged that he needs to raise his levels in 2016, or he will lose his job.
Although Rovers reached the Challenge Cup final last year, they have not yet established themselves as a top-eight team.
Chester knows that he needs to cut out some of the mistakes which characterised his early time in charge of the team.
“I just think that I have got to improve. My words (at KR’s Player of the Year awards) were that if I don’t improve, I won’t be here in 2017,” he told the Hull Daily Mail.
“I made a lot of mistakes last year. I’m the first to put my hand up and it’s important that I don’t make those same mistakes this year. All my staff and players do too.
“We missed out on the top-eight, it wasn’t acceptable. It was disappointing, but on the flip-side we got to a Cup final, and went one step further than we set out to do.
“Overall, last year was a hell of a great journey. I can’t wait for another journey this year and I’m confident we can do that.”
