Cherry-Evans eyes Storm challenge

Manly will need to be at their best if they are to overcome Melbourne and secure a place in the NRL Grand Final, according to halfback Daly Cherry-Evans

The Sea Eagles’ defeat of in-form North Queensland has put them on a collision course with the Storm in Friday’s Preliminary Final at AAMI Park.

Helped by two generous video refereeing decisions, the Sea Eagles ended the Cowboys’ hopes of a maiden premiership by defeating them 22-12 at Allianz Stadium on Friday.

But any thoughts of relaxing have been put aside for now, according to Cherry Evans.

“We don’t have much time to celebrate,” he told Manly’s official website.

“We’ve got to put it behind us pretty quickly and prepare for a Melbourne side that was probably the standout side in round one of the finals.

“We’re going to have to be on our game and prepare well this week.”

Cherry-Evans was given the Dally M Rookie of the year last season, which saw him guide the Sea Eagles to their eighth premiership.

“I’d love to be doing this for two more games,” added Cherry-Evans.

“Obviously our goal is to get to the grand final and not only to be a part of it but to win it.

“We’re looking forward to the occasion next weekend.”
