Four squads of Engage Super League cheerleaders will be coming together at the Carnegie Floodlit 9’s at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, Leeds on Wednesday, August 25th to battle it out in a cheerleader touch rugby competition.

The ‘awesome foursome’ are: Wakefield’s Wildcat Dolls; the Radio Aire Dancers from Leeds Rhinos, The Claws from Castleford Tigers and the Warrington Wolves’ cheerleaders. They are all taking part in the competition to be crowned the Cheerleader Touch Rugby Champions.

The competition format will see two semi-finals and then a Final to decide the winners of this all important championship.

Kathryn Jones, the Women and Girls Development Officer from Wakefield, said: “It’s great to see the girls involved in this prestigious event and taking the competition so seriously.  Girls from all the squads are keen to improve their rugby skills and are undergoing training sessions in preparation for the event.”

The Draw for the Carnegie Floodlit 9s will take place live on James Deighton’s show on BBC Radio Leeds on 15th August 2010 at 5.30pm.
