Chase in Cas squad for Leeds cup tie

Castleford have named Rangi Chase in their 19-man squad for Friday’s Challenge Cup trip to Leeds.

Chase, 27, appeared to wave farewell to the Tigers faithful after leading them to a 28-26 win over Widnes last weekend, with a move to NRL side St George Illawarra imminent.

But he looks set to line-up for the club at least one more time at Headingley.

Chief executive Steve Gill denied any knowledge of a deal being done on Wednesday, while the Dragons appeared to pave the way for Chase when it was revealed current stand-off Jamie Soward will join Penrith at the end of the season.

Winger Justin Carney returns to action following his two match ban, while Lee Gilmour features despite suffering a hamstring strain which ruled him out last weekend.

Castleford 19-man squad v Leeds: Owen, Carney, Shenton, Chase, Ellis, Walker, Clark, Huby, Gilmour, Hauraki, Milner, Massey, Holmes, Thompson, Tansey, Clare, Martin, Mason, Boyle.
