Former Catalans player Alex Chan has rejoined the club in the role of general manager.

Chan, who played for the Dragons from 2006 to 2008 and named in the Catalans Team of the Decade, has signed a three-year contract.

Club Chairman Bernard Guasch said: “I’m delighted that Alex has accepted our offer.

“He has always been a role model as a player, he has alaways be a great example for everybody at the club.

“He will be here to support Laurent Frayssinous, being in charge of the off-field management of the players, not only from the Super League squad but also in our reserve and academy teams.”

A former New Zealand international, he made 78 Super League appearances and scored 11 tries during his time at the club.

Appointed Cook Island headcoach last year, he will start on November 1.

Club CEO Christophe Jouffret said: “Alex Chan, as a player, has marked the club history in the early years of the Dragons in the Super League.

“Chany knows the club and its environment and will have a key role in our coaching staff.

“He has great human values and qualities as rigor or leadership to manage the players and the squad. Loved by all here at Perpignan, the Catalan Kiwi will quickly fit into our structure.”

Catalans headcoach Laurent Frayssinous said: “I’m really satisfied to have Alex back at the club. He carries the club in his heart and is really happy to come back.

“He will share his qualities and his work ethic with everyone at the club, from the U16, U19, U23 to the Super League squad.”
