Championship round-up: Toulouse on top, Batley beat Widnes & Swinton edge Dewsbury

It was an exciting round of Championship action here’s what happened…

It was a top of the table clash at the Millennium Stadium as league leaders  Toulouse faced off against second place Featherstone with the Championship top spot on the line.

Former St. Helens second-rower Dominique Peyroux scored a double whilst further tries from Justin Sangare and Remi Casty made sure the french side cemented their place at the top of the Betfred Championship table with a 23-6 victory over the Rovers.

Swinton edged Dewsbury in a close contest that ended 22-18 at the Tetley’s Stadium thanks to three second-half tries from Louis Brogan, Mitch Cox and Jack Hansen.

A late James Saltonstall try secured Halifax a 24-21 victory at home against Bradford in a West Yorkshire derby.

Whitehaven are in seventh place after a 20-14 victory away at Newcastle.

Elsewhere, Abbas Miski scored two as London were 30-20 victors over Oldham. There were also tries from Josh Walters, Jarrod Sammut and Jacob Jones with Chris Hankinson slotting over five goals.

Batley triumphed 34-16 away against Widnes as they ran in six tries at the DCBL Stadium.
