Championship round-up: Ince scores four, Dewsbury shock Featherstone, Swinton claim first win

There were a number of impressive attendances in round eight of the Championship. 

Dewsbury Rams came up with a shock result as they ran-out 32-22 winners against Featherstone Rovers at the LD Nutrition Stadium.

Liam Finn, Dale Morton (2), Samy Kibula, Michael Knowles and Sam Day all scored for the Rams. Dewsbury half-back Paul Sykes was sin-binned in the 54th minute for dissent.

Ryan Ince scored four tries as Widnes Vikings hammered Rochdale Hornets 50-4 at the Crown Oil Arena. 

Harrison Hansen, Owen Buckley, Keanan Brand, Sam Wilde and Lloyd Roby also crossed for the Vikings.

Toulouse Olympique came from being 12-10 behind at half-time to score five unanswered second half tries to beat Batley Bulldogs 38-12 at the Fox’s Biscuits Stadium.

Joe Bretherton, Con Mika, Justin Sangare, Tony Maurel (2), William Barthau and Paul Marcon scored for the French side.

Andrew Dixon grabbed a hat-trick to help Toronto Wolfpack comfortably dispatch Halifax 48-12 at The Shay.

Jon Wilkin, Blake Wallace (2), Matty Russell (2) and Nick Rawsthorne also went over for the Canadian club.

Sheffield Eagles came up with a workmanlike performance to edge past York City Knights 24-16 at Bootham Crescent on Sunday.

Ryan Millar, James Glover and Ben Hellewell (2) went over for Mark Aston’s Eagles.

Swinton Lions claimed their first win of the season as they battled past Barrow Raiders 33-26 at Craven Park.

Liam Forsyth (2), Mike Butt, Jack Hansen, Gavin Bennion and Liam Paisley scored for the Lions, while Oscar Thomas added a drop-goal.

Bradford Bulls ground out a 26-12 victory against Leigh Centurions at Odsal.

Jake Webster, Matty Shorten, Ethan Ryan, Matty Wildie and Rhys Evans scored for the Bulls. Centurions flyer Jonny Pownall was yellow carded in the second half for dissent, while Bradford’s Webster and Leigh’s Liam Hood were sin-binned for fighting.

Toronto sit at the top of the Championship table on 14 points, closely followed by Toulouse and Sheffield, who are on 12 points.
