In the first of three Saturday fixtures, emerging play off contenders Sheffield defeated Whitehaven at Don Valley Stadium. Brooks, Edwards, Szostak, Mills and Barlow crossed for for Mark Aston’s team.

Toulouse defeated Batley 32-24 despite suffering some absences due to France‘s match with England in Paris. Mitchell, Gay, Couturier, Bromley and Wynn scored the winning tries.

Widnes appeared to get back on track with a 46-22 win over Featherstone. Penny, Grayshon, Morrison, Webster, Dodd, Smith, Kohe-Love and Gaskell all scored tries, as the Vikings blew away Rovers in the first 40 minutes.

Halifax survived a Barrow fightback to win 30-24 at The Shay. Haley, Watene, Gleeson, Patterson and Royston scored tries, while Andy Ellis scored three in vain for the Raiders.

Leigh were hammered at home by Gateshead. Michael Knowles scored 16 points as rhe Thunder won 40-12, while Nick Youngquest scored two tries.

In a live televised fixture on Thursday, Dewsbury defeated Keighley 46-6 in the Championship One. Andrew Bostock starred for the Rams, scoring three tries.

York defeated Hunslet at South Leeds Stadium on Sunday. Paul March scored twice in a 34-6 away win for the Knights.

Workington were condemned to an all-too-familiar home defeat as they lost to Swinton 26-18. Sneyd, Ashall, Billy and English scored to give the Lions all three points at Derwent Park.
