York City Knights grabbed their elusive first win of the Championship campaign with a Matt Garside try to beat Swinton 26-22.

George Elliot got the Knights on the score board after only two minutes before Kevin Penny replied six minutes later.

Richie Hawkyard put the Lions ahead before Garside grabbed the first of his two tries shortly before the quarter of an hour mark.

John Davies touched down for the Knights inside the games’ first 20 minutes, and there was a break in the scoring for 21 minutes until Tom Armstrong put the Lions back in contention.

Adam Higson got the Lions back in the lead before Gavin Dodd stretched their lead to merely six points.

James Ford scored for the Knights shortly after the hour mark to get the home side within touching distance, but it was Garside’s try that sealed the win for Chris Thorman’s men.

 

Halifax ran out 30-16 winners at Cougar Park.

A double from Ryan Fieldhouse inside a three minute period secured the win for the away side to keep them top of the Championship.

Sam Barlow, Sean Penkywicz and Lee Paterson all scored for Karl Harrison’s men.

Keighley replied with tries from James Haythornwaite, Jason Demetriou and a late double from Richie Barnett.

 

Leigh were comfortable 40-12 winners over Sheffield at the Leigh Sports Village on Thursday evening.

The final result never looked like happening as Gregg McNally and Stuart Littler’s early tries were equalised by scores fro Michael Knowles and Quentin Laulu-Togagae

However Leigh hit form in the final quarter of the game with tries from Jon Pownell, two tries from Ryan Brierley and another double from Martyn Ridyard.

 

Andy Kain scored four tries as Featherstone Rovers defeated Dewsbury 60-18 at the Big Fellas Stadium.

Sam Smeaton, Greg Worthington, Liam Finn and Tommy Saxton all put their names on the scoreboard as the Rams had no reply for Rovers’ dominance.

Dewsbury replied with tries from Scott Spaven, James Craven and Ed Barber.

 

Batley Bulldogs humiliated Hunslet Hawks 56-10 at Mount Pleasant.

A hat trick from Ben Black and Jason Walton made sure the Hawks weren’t even going home with a bonus point.

Alex Brown, Gareth Moore and Alex Bretherton all got their names on the scoreboard for the Bulldogs.

Hunslet replied with tries from Andy Yates and Tommy Haughey late in the game
