Championship Round Four: Results and round-up

Featherstone went top of the Championship table with a win over Newcastle and are now the only team to have won all four games to start the season.

Sean Long’s side have won four from four after easing past Newcastle Thunder 56-6 at Post Office Road.

Josh Hardcastle (2), Brad Day, Jack Bussey (2), McKenzie Yei, Connor Jones, Joey Leilua (2) and Luke Briscoe all crossed for the Rovers.

In the game at Odsal on Saturday, Bradford Bulls came up with a strong 28-18 win over Toulouse Olympique.

George Flanagan Sr, Joe Arundel, Liam Tindall and AJ Wallace scored Bradford’s tries. Dec Patton kicked six goals.

A late drop goal from veteran half-back Anthony Thackeray sealed a 21-20 win for Sheffield Eagles in the capital against London Broncos. Ben Jones-Bishop (2), Ross Oakes and Titus Gwaze got on the scoresheet for the Eagles.

Whitehaven picked up their first win of the year as they defeated Swinton Lions 20-4 at the Recreation Ground. Chris Taylor and Sam Freeman (2) with the tries for the Cumbrian hosts.

Barrow Raiders remain the only club in the Championship not to have a won a game so far this season. The Raiders suffered a 28-14 defeat on the road to York Knights.

12-man Batley Bulldogs snatched a 28-23 victory over Keighley Cougars thanks to a late try from Dale Morton.

Dane Chisholm had kicked a drop goal for Keighley to think they had won the game, but Morton’s late effort sees the Bulldogs take the spoils.

James Meadows and Samy Kibula also went over for Batley. Robbie Storey, Charlie Graham and Chisholm scored for the Cougars.
