Championship Preview: Swinton Lions v Halifax

Swinton Lions are boosted by the return of Richie Hawkyard, David Mills and Gene Ormsby for Sunday’s showdown with third-placed Halifax.

However, Matt Sarsfield serves a one-match ban as coach Gary Chambers ponders a number of changes to his line-up.

Swinton earned a bonus point in their 24-16 defeat at Dewsbury last week, but Chambers insisted his side could have done more.

Chambers said: “I probably thought we could have pushed on and maybe got all three points.

“We made far too many errors and gave ourselves too much to do, and that in turn diluted our attack because we’d defended for too long.”

He continued: “It’s a tough division. You’ve got to be on your guard and keep improving, and we’re working hard defensively.

“It’s difficult, because when you’re tired you make rash decisions. For us it’s about being a bit smarter, making some simple choices and doing the right things at the right time.”

Struggling Halifax are desperate for a return to form after losing four of their last five matches.

Their latest defeat came in a 31-18 reverse against Sheffield last week, and Fax are still without Adam Robinson (shoulder) and Luke Adamson (hand) remain
