Championship Preview: Hunslet Hawks v Halifax

Hunslet Hawks player Luke Helliwell faces “a number of weeks” on the sidelines after tearing his hamstring, while Danny Grimshaw (ankle) and Scott Watson are also ruled out of Sunday’s Kingstone Press Championship showdown with Halifax.

Hawks coach Barry Eaton said: “We’re playing against good sides week in, week out, and Halifax are one of the very best.

Ryan Fieldhouse has a great kick return and their two wingers are as quick as anybody. They’ve threats across the park.”

The Hawks are just two points of a top-eight spot, with four wins and five bonus points from their 15 league fixtures this year.

Eaton added: “If we were to sneak in the play-offs it’d be a massive, massive achievement because we’re probably still one of the lowest financed teams in the whole game.

“We’re working hard for each other and we’re still in the hunt. If we can turn the close losses into wins then we’re in with a shout.”

Halifax coach Karl Harrison is likely to keep faith with Rob Worrincy after the London-born winger scored five tries in last week’s win at Swinton Lions. Lee Paterson and Rikki Sheriffe missed out last week due to Worrincy’s inclusion.

Luke Adamson and Adam Robinson are still a couple of weeks away from a return to action.
