Championship Preview: Featherstone v Workington

Featherstone Rovers coach Daryl Powell could be boosted by the return of Matty Dale and Kyle Briggs as he looks to bounce back from a rare Kingstone Press Championship defeat.

Featherstone were toppled 26-18 by Sheffield Eagles last week, and will be determined to bounce back against Workington Town.

Town travel without Jamie Thackeray (suspended), Andy Morris and Mark Calderwood, while Jarrad Stack has a 50/50 chance of playing.

Workington coach Gary Charlton said: “It doesn’t get any tougher than this, especially after Featherstone’s loss against Sheffield – they’ll be keen to put a few things right.

“We’ve got to defend well, because everyone knows how good Rovers are in attack, and how well drilled they are.

“Daryl’s got the type of players that will want to prove they can play and prove how good they are. Our challenge is to come up with something that can stop them.”

He added: “Last week against Batley our effort and enthusiasm was back to what it was; we just let ourselves down with two or three errors. We’ve got to get that out of our game, especially against a side like Featherstone.”
